Acts 13: 1-5: “Now there were in the church at Antioch prophets and teachers and while they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, ‘Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.’ Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off. So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they sailed to Cyprus and when they arrived, they proclaimed the word of God…”
Lord, as we at Grace Point have set apart this team to go to Lebanon in a few weeks, we ask for Your blessing and protection as they do the work to which You have called them! As in the book of Acts, we send them off that they will proclaim the Word of God through their love, their service, and their empathy as they interact with our partners at the Amchit church and with the Horizons staff in Beirut.
Father, even as each one here has been faced with attacks of the Enemy over the past few days and weeks, yet they are here as willing and obedient servants ready to go and serve and we thank You for that! We pray for Your loving arms of protection around each one both physically and spiritually as they hold up their “shield of faith to extinguish the flaming arrows of the evil one.” For we know that our struggle and their “struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the spiritual forms of evil in the heavenly realms”. So we pray that You would bind Satan and put a hedge of protection around this team and sustain them as they prepare to go. Keep them healthy in the weeks ahead so they can be effective instruments in Your hands as they serve.
May Your Spirit go ahead of them and prepare the hearts of those with whom that they will be serving, as well as their own, that they all would be open to the lessons that You want to teach them and that they can learn from each other.
We thank You for the privilege that is ours here at Grace Point to have the opportunity pray for them and support them as we send them out. May we as a church remember to lift them up daily as they prepare and as they are there in Lebanon.
We pray that all the logistical plans that have been made would work out according to Your good purposes so through all things You would receive the glory!
So as we commission this team to go, we commit them to You in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior, Amen!
